We are Miller Sucre; a mother and daughter owned business, delivering the delights of afternoon tea to your door, or your special event. We are based in West Yorkshire, but are more than happy to travel further afield.
Patricia: I am a qualified confectioner with over 25 years of experience in the world of cake creation. I graduated in 2012 with a BSc Honours in Nutrition and Food and went on to complete the NWRAC Advanced Level in Cake Creating and Confectionary.
I have been making cordials and preserves since I was a teenager many decades ago; thanks to my dad’s bountiful crops in the garden. My speciality is crafting truly life-like sugar flowers. The first flower I learned to make was the delicate common daisy; found on most patches of grass in Britain. My edible floral arrangements are inspired by photographs that I snap when I go out flower-gazing (Valley Gardens, Harlow Carr Gardens and the Yorkshire countryside to name a few places).
Rachel: Although my background originally lies within the music and performance field; I found an outlet in baking during my time at University. Inspired by The Great British Bake Off, I quickly began my creative pursuit to mastering the French macaroon! It started out as a good way to unwind from studies and practice, but I soon realised it was something I would like to do in the future.
Before the business took off, we would often provide afternoon tea for family and friends; laying out our personal collection of vintage China. The feedback was wonderful. People seemed to love our set-up and how we gave it that personal touch; stepping away from the themes of some of the more commercialised afternoon tea services.
Miller Sucre began after spotting a poster for free business enterprise start-up classes. By our third week we had an idea and a mock business plan. We knew we both had this passion for baking and from this; our dream could perhaps become reality. After presenting to guest speakers, who were really impressed with our presentation, we were told it was something we should definitely pursue – so we did!
We supply artisan baked yummies for both personal and corporate events. We take immense pride in the versatility and homemade aspect of everything we provide. All our pastry is made from scratch and preserves and cordials are homemade and lovingly produced, using only local, quality sourced ingredients. We are great believers in supporting local businesses.
We look closely at the nutritional value of food; offering gluten free and vegan alternatives, without taking anything away from the delicious taste.
Miller Sucre is growing and we have thoroughly enjoyed catering for baby showers, bridal showers and corporate events. We have recently started an endeavour into the world of market stalls and summer fates – something we never expected to do, but really enjoy. We also offer a unique delivery service, where we personally deliver afternoon tea to your door.
We will happily cater for sizeable events with our fun pop-up tea parties, which still keep in line with our classic, vintage feel. Miller Sucre is the perfect choice for get-togethers.
